Elan Trail / Elan Valley Lakes
Ten mile linear cycle and walking surfaced route along three reservoirs.
Accompanied walks, Bug Hunts, Dam Busters Walk. Waymarked walks of various terrain and difficulty. This complex is well worth a visit. There is 70 acres of open access around magnificent scenery and wildlife including peregrine falcons. The dams in winter are even more stunning than in the summer.

Brecon Beacons Park Society
This organisation provides for its members and the general public a programme of walks largely within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Most of these walks go into the hills and are designed for experienced walkers. The walks are led by volunteer leaders who know the country well and are an ideal way of getting to know the National Park better. A guided walk is provided every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.

The Wye Valley Walk
The beautiful Wye Valley walk is 136 miles (216 km) long and follows the river from Chepstow in Monmouthshire to the slopes of Plynlimon in Powys before joining with Severn Way in Hafren Forest. This walk is in its last (or first) stages as it goes through Llangurig on its way to the source of the river. The route passes on the opposite side of the river (mostly fordable) to Plas Bwlch. The source is about 6 miles from Plas Bwlch in the Plynlimon Mountains.

The Severn Way
The 210 mile (337 km) Severn Way is the longest riverside walk in Britain tracing the course of the River Severn from its source on Plynlimon to its mouth at the estuary of the Bristol Channel.

Hafren Forest
There are walks of various length and difficulty including one suitable for wheelchair users. Toilets available from Easter to October and riverside picnic site.

Glyndwr's Way
This 132 mile (213 Km) National Trail is set in the heart of Wales' breathtaking countryside and is dedicated to the 15th Century Welsh warrior and self-proclaimed Prince Owain Glyndwr. Locally there are 15 sections of between 5 and 12 miles from Knighton via Llanidloes and Machynlleth to Welshpool. Free route leaflets and accommodation guide are available from Machynlleth TIC.
