Ever considered clay target shooting for something new and exciting to do? One of the most outstanding places to shoot in Mid Wales is the Griffin-Lloyd Shooting Ground located on the border of England and Wales in the heart of the countryside. Once again, it is a long established business since 1990 and they offer a wide variety of clay target shooting to suit all needs whether you are a British/International shooter or a complete novice.

Their sporting facilities provide a variety of simulated game stands including spring teal, high pheasant, dropping crow, bolting rabbit etc. All ten stands are connected by a gravel path through the timbered valley where traps are situated among the trees giving the shooter some variety and challenging targets in natural conditions

  • Guests arrive for tea and coffee in the Clubhouse. The shoot captain gives a briefing of the activity outlines the rules and safety procedures. Guests will be divided into teams depending on their shooting ability and allocated an instructor. Full tuition with one instructor to six guests.
  • On arrival in the valley the groups will be instructed on many of the different stands and types of shot
  • The guests will all shoot a 50 bird round with a break for light refreshments
  • The groups are brought back to the clubhouse for drinks before departure.

Minimum of 10 people required.

Cost per head to include all of the following:

  • unlimited tea and coffee
  • gun hire
  • 50 clay targets & cartridges
  • ear defenders and
  • use of clubhouse facilities.

Full catering facilities are available in the Clubhouse if you require a three course meal.
Total duration of activity – approximately 4 hours.

Simulated Game Day

For the Game Shot suffering withdrawal symptoms or the Clay Shot wishing to try his/her hand at something different, the Simulated Game Day is superb. High testing targets are guaranteed in both their number and quality are provided in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The day follows exactly the same format as a real pheasant shoot with guests asked to dress accordingly. There are five drives through the day, three in the morning and two after lunch.

Itinerary of the day:

9.30
Guests arrive for bacon rolls/baguettes, tea and coffee in the Clubhouse. Over breakfast the shoot captain will outline the days drives and give the party a brief introduction to driven shooting, its etiquette, traditions, rules and safety procedures. Guns choose their starting peg number.

10.30
Guns begin the first of the five drives of the day. The days are for sixteen people, with each team of eight guns taking it in turn to shoot and load on each drive.

13.30
The party returns to the clubhouse for a traditional three coarse lunch with all the trimmings.

15.00
Guns take their places on the pegs for the remaining two drives.

17.30
Final drive over, the party is brought back to the clubhouse for a drinks reception before departure.

  • Bacon rolls/baguettes on arrival with unlimited tea and coffee
  • Provision of trappers and all clays
  • Ear defenders
  • Service of shoot captain throughout the day
  • Traditional three-course lunch, cash bar

Cartridges are not included but can be supplied.
Guests are welcome with an extra cost for lunch and beverages.
