Off Roading
Off roading and 4x4 is the fastest growing motorsport in the UK. Mid Wales is becoming increasingly popular as an off-roading destination, so much so that BAJA GB is holding their first Radnor Forest race in August 2006. An excellent example of the type of off road course available is Tuff Terrains is Aber-cym-hir, Llandrindod Wells as featured in the July 2006 edition of Landrover Owner International.
Situated in the beautiful hills and valleys of Radnorshire, Mid Wales is a real test for the driver and machine. 'Tuff Terrains' is situated in some 193 acres of undulating hills which is ideally suited to off road driving. Numerous tracks include woodland sections, various water splashes, bog pits and mud slides, hill climbs of varying severities, and trial sections.
- It is a first class course used by "Camel Trophy" in mid 90s and currently by Cherokee Jeep (J33P) advanced training groups. It comprises of 7 miles of uninterrupted purpose built off road track which can accommodate up to 15 vehicles.
- Participants are taken around the course by an instructor to learn the routes. Most groups are split up in to different abilities and instructors will spend time with each group, teaching as they go.
